Lori Beauvais
Lori Beauvais
Lori Beauvais works in the Welcome Center which is connected to the Counseling Office.  She has worked for the district since 1997. In 2014 she was happy to join the Middle School staff.  She
works with students handling all the out-of-building passes, helps with attendance and any SchoolVIEW issues you may have.  Lori enjoys biking, hiking and spending time with her family, especially her 3 grandsons.

Lori Marsh
is the secretary in the counseling office.  She has worked in the district since 1994 and spent most of that time at Pinecrest Elementary before coming to HMS in 2016.  Lori is excited to be starting in her new role at the middle school.  She loves to welcome and help students who come to the counseling office.  Lori arranges appointments for students, enrolls new students, and works with data and

grade entry.  In her free time she enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.

Rick Wheeler
works with students whose last name falls between A-H.  Rick grew up in Wausau, Wisconsin.  He earned his undergraduate degree at Carroll College, his teaching degree from the University of WisconsinMadison, and a Master of Education degree in Guidance and Counseling from

Springfield College in Massachusetts.  Of his 38 years as an educator, 24 have been spent as a counselor at Hastings Middle School.  Rick says it is the best job he’s ever had due to the wonderful staff, friendly student body, and supportive community.  Every day is an exciting challenge.  Rick was the 2013 Minnesota Middle School Counselor of the Year.  Rick enjoys outdoor sports in his free time, especially the sports he coaches, nordic skiing and golf.

works with students whose last name falls between I-Q.  Charlie grew up in Hastings and is very happy to be back in the community.  He completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at St. John’s University and then went on to earn a Masters Degree in Education Counseling at the University of WisconsinRiver Falls.  Charlie then moved back to Hastings and began his career
Charlie Black
in counseling at the Hastings Middle School in 2004.  Charlie coaches football and basketball at the middle school.  He enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Melissa, and his two boys.  Charlie was honored as the Employee of the Year in 2012-2013 for Hastings Public Schools.

Ellen Rademacher works with students whose last name starts with the letters R-Z.  Ellen grew up in Hastings and is proud to be a member of the staff at Hastings Middle School.  Her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education was earned at the College of St. Benedict.

In 2006 she graduated from the University of WisconsinRiver Falls with a Masters Degree in School Counseling. She has been a member of the Hastings Middle School staff since 1990 serving as a tutor in the Raider Study Center; sixth grade teacher of English and Raider Reading, as well as Tech. Literacy, Quest, and Math; student council and conflict
manager advisor; and as a counselor.  Honors she has received include HEA Teacher of the Year, Education Minnesota Teacher of Excellence, and UWRF Outstanding Counseling Student.  Ellen enjoys spending time with her family, walking, swimming, camping, and reading.

Amy Mares is the school psychologist for HMS.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of WisconsinEau Claire.  She earned her Masters of Science in Education School Psychology Degree from the University

– Stout.  Amy has been a school psychologist for the district since 1995.  Her role includes conducting educational evaluations for students who may need special education services, consulting with parents, staff and students about mental health and/or educational concerns, and providing support to students through individual and/or group counseling.  Amy enjoys photography, scrap booking, reading, and spending time with her family.  

Lori Hinz is the school social worker for the middle school and works closely with students who receive special education services.  She received her undergraduate degree in art

therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.  Lori earned her Masters degree from the University of Iowa in Social Work and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker.  Prior to working in the school system, Lori was in the mental health field and worked as a child/adolescent therapist.  She was nominated for Minnesota School Social Worker in 2008 and has been employed with the Hastings School District since 2009.  Lori enjoys yoga, spending time with family/friends and thrift-store shopping.
