Charlie Black is the school counselor for 6th graders at HMS. Charlie grew up in Hastings
and is very happy to be back in the community. He completed his
undergraduate degree in Psychology at St. John’s University and then
went on to earn a Masters Degree in Education Counseling at the
University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Charlie then moved back to
Hastings and began his career in school counseling at the Hastings Middle
School in 2004. He enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his
wife, Melissa, and his two boys. Charlie was honored as the Employee of
the Year in 2012-2013 for Hastings Public Schools.
Molly Cirillo is the Family Resource Coordinator and
McKinney Vento Homeless Liaison for the district. She supports
students/families that are dealing with homelessness, mental health and
chemical needs. She supports students/families that are accessing
treatment facilities and assists with the educational re-entry into the
district. She coordinates with outside mental health providers as a liaison to
improve collaboration between the providers and the district. She
received her undergraduate degree in family social science and Master’s degree
in Social Work from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She is a Licensed
Independent Clinical Social Worker. Molly was the McAuliffe school social
worker for 7 years before starting this position. Prior to working in the
school system, Molly was in the mental health and child welfare field working
in a food shelf, day treatment, foster care adoption, and child abuse
prevention/education. She was awarded the Minnesota School Social Worker of the
year in 2019 and has been employed with the Hastings School District since
2012. In her free time Molly enjoys running, crafting, traveling to warm
destinations, spending time with family/friends and secretly works as a mystery
shopper.
Brooke Johnson is the 7th Grade School Counselor at the Hastings Middle School. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Business at St. Cloud State University and received her master’s degree in school counseling from St. Cloud State University. Prior to joining the Hastings Middle School Counseling Team, Brooke was a counselor at Forest Lake Middle School and Pine City Jr. High. This is her 10th year as a middle school counselor. Brooke is a proud graduate of Hastings High School and is very excited to be working and supporting the community she grew up in. She enjoys traveling, running, boating, going up north, and spending time with her husband and kids.
Megan Latch is the school counselor for all of the 8th graders at the Hastings Middle School. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Winona State University. Megan received her master’s degree in school counseling from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. Prior to joining the Hastings Middle School Counseling team Megan was a School Counselor at Twin Bluff Middle School in Red Wing, MN. She lives in Hastings with her husband and family. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, and going to the cabin.
Amy Mares is
the school psychologist for HMS. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree
in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. She earned
her Masters of Science in Education School Psychology Degree from the
University of Wisconsin – Stout. Amy has been a school psychologist for
the district since 1995. Her role includes conducting educational
evaluations for students who may need special education services,
consulting with parents, staff and students about mental health and/or
educational concerns, and providing support to students through
individual and/or group counseling. Amy enjoys photography, scrap
booking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Lori Marsh is the secretary in the counseling office. She has worked in the district since 1994 and spent most of that time at Pinecrest Elementary before coming to HMS in 2016. Lori is excited to be starting in her new role at the middle school. She loves to welcome and help students who come to the counseling office. Lori arranges appointments for students, enrolls new students, and works with data and grade entry. In her free time she enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.
Ellen Rademacher is the school counselor for all of the 5th grade students at Hastings Middle School. Ellen
grew up in Hastings and is proud to be a member of the staff at Hastings
Middle School. Her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education was
earned at the College of St. Benedict. In 2006 she graduated from the
University of Wisconsin – River Falls with a Masters Degree in School
Counseling. She has been a member of the Hastings Middle School staff
since 1990 serving as a tutor in the Raider Study Center; sixth grade
teacher of English and Raider Reading, as well as Tech. Literacy, Quest,
and Math; student council and conflict manager advisor; and as a
counselor. Honors she has received include HEA Teacher of the Year,
Education Minnesota Teacher of Excellence, and UWRF Outstanding
Counseling Student. Ellen enjoys spending time with her family, walking,
swimming, camping, and reading.
